Set these settings so that users can focus on your content and not your desktop’s visual or audio distractions. Many of these settings are one time settings so you don't have to worry about during them again.
Set the screen resolution to your computer RECOMMENDATED setting. Note, this is not the same as the recording resolution that should be set in Camtasia.
Set mouse settings in Mouse preference panel:
Set mouse speed so that it moves smoothly.
Enlarge the mouse pointer in Windows (Magnifier (system scheme)) or in Camtasia if you use it as with the recorder to make it easier to see on the screen.
Select the hide pointer while typing checkbox in the Pointer Options in Windows.
If you have a trackpad, turn it off to prevent the mouse from accidentally being moved on the screen.
Right-click on desktop and select Personalized from the menu. Then, from the Background dropdown menu select Solid Colors and then select a dark color from the Background colors swatches.
In the Control Panels select Sounds and in the dialog box that appears select Sounds and from the Sound Schemes drop down menu select No sound and then click the OK button.
In the Control Panel, select Security and Maintenance and then select the links that says “Turn off messages about…”
In the Start menu, right-click on all icons that are unnecessary and then select More > Don’t show in this list. This is useful because it allows you to see the applications that you will be using in your project in this list without any distraction.
Empty the recycle bin before each recording by right-clicking on it and selecting Empty Recycle bin.
Remove all unnecessary icons from desktop by selecting them and and then performing one of the following:
Click the Delete button
Place them in a temporary folder
Move them to a second screen
Right-click on the Desktop and deselect View > Show Desktop icons to hide ALL icons
Right-click on an empty area of the task bar, select the Taskbar tab and then select Auto hide the taskbar and then click the Customize… button and turn off ALL notifications that can interrupt your projects.
On the left side of the screen, right-click on each icon that will not be used and select Unpin from Taskbar.
